The Just 4 Us Foundation, Inc. was established by Andrée Harris in 2009 to provide free and affordable programs and services that are accessible for children with special needs, cater to at-risk youth and foster family involvement. Because she is a mother to children with special needs, and has fostered and mentored many at risk & therapeutic foster children, she understands all too well that whether a child falls on the autistic spectrum, has a developmental or cognitive delay, is physically handicapped or is struggling to find their place in society, he or she should be given opportunities to participate in life.
As a foster/adoptive parent; she also understands what parents and children go through when they have been separated from each other. She strongly believes that all families should be given a chance to seek and utilize support sytems and resources that are available to help them to rebuild and strive.
Prior to the establishiing the Just 4 Us Foundation, Ms. Harris struggled to find out of school, weekend and summer events and activities for her child. The programs that were offered didn't provide transportation or would allow only one person to accompany the child. This posed another problem, other children were left out. Ms. Harris decided to do something about it.
She instinctively knew that not only should the Just 4 Us Foundation, Inc talk about the needs but will dedicate time and resources to meet the needs of those that they serve.
In the future, Ms. Harris hopes to see Just 4 Us Event Centers open to provide access to events, support groups, counseling, resources and information groups, thus becoming a gateway for the community as a whole.
